Cherry Blossoms

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

I’ve always loved cherry blossoms. Their luscious petals remind me of springtime and hope, helping me dream of goodness in the world. I know I’m fortunate to live close to places that hold annual cherry blossom festivals that celebrate the flowers and the beautiful culture of Japan.

When I visited the local Japanese market the other week, I saw this night light and had to buy it!

Fun fact: Along with the chrysanthemum, the cherry blossom is Japan’s national flower.

  1. That’s a beautiful little light! We love them here in Vancouver too! Also, Chloe arrived in Japan just at the beginning of cherry blossom festival and her first two videos are full of the glorious trees. (you can see them from her blog) So for all her homesickness, she had a marvellous thing to revel in and she said it helped her flip out of a mild depression and into the Japanese culture. Cherry blossoms have such a special quality.

That’s beautiful to hear. I’ll need to peek at C’s blog!

I was reading the other day about the symbolism of cherry blossoms, how they embody grace. (They were also used in a very nationalistic way in the past to spur on Japanese soldiers to battle.)

  2. Beautiful! I have to have it. :)
