Tea and Colds

"Your home is a pleasant place from which you draw happiness." But not when we're sick... But at least we have our Zojirushi machine.   These hot water dispensers are amazing. If you're a tea drinker like me, they keep the water piping hot and always on tap. For me, the amount of tea I consume triples when I'm sick. Sure, I also go for a good bowl of chicken noodle soup, but tea is my first line of defense. Wish me luck as I battle this little virus going through our … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday First: Green Tea Dumplings

Green tea dumplings: dumplings with tea flavor If you're a regular reader of my blog, you know that I love green tea in all its forms (cake, mousse, etc.). So when I saw green tea dumplings on the menu at a local restaurant, I had to try them. The chefs were supposed to infuse green tea into the wrappers. Sadly, all the taste must have boiled off because I could only find the usual dough flavor. My verdict? Give this dish a pass. Any tea-flavored treats you enjoy? … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Rose Tea

Rose tea: green tea flavored with roses I have roses blooming in my yard, but I haven't been a big fan of eating rose-flavored treats. (The blame goes to a rose Turkish Delight I ate. Usually when I venture out and order something new, I dislike it. My tried-and-true beverage of choice is jasmine green tea. On a recent trip to the local cafe, though, my hubby urged me to drink something different. I ended up ordering osmanthus tea. Despite its floral origins, osmanthus tea didn't … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday First: Hong Kong Lemon Tea

My first... Hong Kong lemon tea: iced tea with a refreshing lemon flavor Looking for a drink to cool you off this summer? Lemon tea is where it's at. Here's a recipe, complete with cutesy drawings. Very popular in Hong Kong, this drink uses a strong black tea as its base. Think of a dark, bitter brew counterbalanced by sweet sugar (or sometimes honey) and a squeeze of tart lemon. It's iced tea, Asian-style.   … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Green Tea Mousse

Green tea mousse: a smooth, tea-flavored dessert   The picture says it all. Green tea mousse is the Asian version of the mousse dessert. It has a sweet taste with a touch of the earthy bitterness of green tea to counterbalance the sugar. The white chocolate rectangle and fresh fruit also serve to round out the taste. … [Read more...]
