Matcha crisps: green tea-flavored cookies For regular followers of my blog, it's no surprise that I'm a green tea lover. My wonderful dad (so sweet!) picked up a package of matcha crisps on his recent visit to Malaysia. If you look closely at the pic, you'll see a "Penang" sticker. These are not British crisps, which are akin to potato chips. I think they're more like cookies. Here are my favorite attributes about them: Not too sweet (it's more of a snacking food) Balanced between … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Green Tea Oreos

Green tea Oreos: chocolate sandwich cookies with green tea cream Now this is what I'm talking about! If you remember, I was trying out a green tea version of a well-known candy a while back: green tea Kit-Kats. My verdict? Dissatisfied. That's because I was yearning for chocolate in the mix. Well, I've finally found the right combination. It's got the chocolateness of Oreos, along with a delicious green tea middle. Do I split the cookie? Eat the middle first and then the rest? Nope, I'm more … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Green Tea Latte

green tea latte

Green tea latte: green tea mixed with warm milk I'm a huge fan of green tea. I like its lighter taste, as compared to its more bitter and darker counterpart. Also, I enjoy knowing that I'm feasting on antioxidants. My new cold weather favorite? Green tea latte. I can't find this in all the cafes I frequent, but when I do, I like to splurge. There's something comforting about a warm mug and sipping the frothy drink. I especially relish the creaminess of the milk (although, truth be told, … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Green Tea Kit Kat

green tea kit kat

Ready for Halloween? I've got my stash of green tea Kit Kat. Green tea Kit Kat: Kit Kat bars with green tea cream coating I found this batch at the local Japanese store. So every year, I see this vibrantly colored bag and think I've gotten exactly what I want: green tea + chocolate + crunchy wafer. And I get fooled all the time because there's no chocolate in these! What? Once I get over this surprise, it's still a pretty cool candy. Especially if I want matcha flavor with a crunch. It's … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Grapefruit Green Tea

1-grapefruit

Grapefruit green tea: yep, grapefruit juice mixed with tea Let me tell you. On a beautiful summer day (first day of summer = June 20th), there's nothing more desired than a glass of something refreshing. My latest fave? Green tea mixed with grapefruit juice. It's a great combo of tart and sweet. I guess it's a bit like an Arnold Palmer--but more Asian-style. Cheers!   … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday First: Green Tea Dumplings

green tea dumpling

Green tea dumplings: dumplings with tea flavor If you're a regular reader of my blog, you know that I love green tea in all its forms (cake, mousse, etc.). So when I saw green tea dumplings on the menu at a local restaurant, I had to try them. The chefs were supposed to infuse green tea into the wrappers. Sadly, all the taste must have boiled off because I could only find the usual dough flavor. My verdict? Give this dish a pass. Any tea-flavored treats you enjoy? … [Read more...]

Foodie Friday: Green Tea Cake

green tea cake

Green tea cake: the beverage turned into a delicious cake           Here's my tried and true way of celebrating: Cake! (Want a reason to party? How about my book as a finalist for Book of the Year Award?) Not just any type of cake will satisfy my cravings. My go-to is green tea cake. It's not too sweet, and I can indulge while convincing myself I'm stocking up on antioxidants. A swirl of whipped cream adds a hint of sweetness to this traditional … [Read more...]
