Bucket List

I saw this press release about older people learning languages and traveling. Think: study abroad for seniors.

I never went overseas for schooling, but I did meet lovely folks who visited here. Students I talked to came from Germany, India, Singapore, Spain, and more. All were super-friendly and gave me a new perspective on America.

Learning languages is on my wish list for the future, but some other items I would like to tackle are:

  • Hang gliding
  • Making pottery
  • Playing a musical instrument

What about you?

  1. I’d love to learn Spanish. I majored in French and worked in Paris as an au pair girl many moons ago. I love the French language, but Spanish would be more practical here in the US. Maybe someday. My mother took up German in her 60s!

  2. Behind the Story says

I like your bucket list. I’m older than you, so instead of a bucket list, I’ll mention some of the things I’ve enjoyed doing. I haven’t done hang gliding, but I enjoyed that gliding feeling when my husband and I took a hot air balloon ride for our anniversary. Instead of pottery, I learned to do batik and Chinese brush painting. It’s been a long time since I played a musical instrument–a clarinet in high school. I loved it. I think it would be fun to join a steel band drum band.
