Tried out this tasty Oaxacan dish recently… Tlayuda: giant toasted tortilla with lots of fixings This was not your average tortilla. A large crisp circle, it spanned the size of a personal pizza. I loved the different colors offered up by the black beans, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, and avocados. The winning culinary flavors, though, belonged to the meats: cecina, tasajo, and chorizo. Ate my first... Breakfast pizza: pizza with eggs! I know people who eat pizza for breakfast (I never really got into it). But I never actually ate a breakfast pizza until now. It's surprisingly delicious. A whole new way of eating eggs. I think that it's more of a splurge for once in a while, though--I still like my eggs plain and unadorned. Foodie Friday First: Kalua Pork Pizza

I ate my first slice of... Kalua pork pizza: tender smoked pork on pizza Summertime reminds me of lazy days at the beach. I remember going to Kauai for my honeymoon. The water there was amazing--so sparkling and toasty warm. A lot of people spotted sea turtles while snorkeling (but not me!). While there, I went to a luau.
